Athol Savings Bank (ASB), A Division of Cornerstone Bank, has donated $8,000 to The Village School to support the school’s financial aid program and help make education more accessible to local families.
“We are proud to support The Village School and its commitment to making high-quality education accessible to families in our community,” said Daniel Zona, president of Cornerstone Bank and former president and CEO of Athol Savings Bank. “The school’s approach helps students build confidence, curiosity and a strong connection to their community and environment. We are pleased to help support that mission.”
The Village School, which serves students from preschool through sixth grade, provides a hands-on, place-based educational experience focused on academic, social and emotional development. Nearly 50 percent of the school’s students currently receive tuition assistance.
The donation comes as more families face financial strain from rising costs for essentials such as groceries, gas and insurance, increasing demand for tuition assistance.
Located on a 55-acre campus in Royalston, The Village School incorporates nature and experiential learning into daily education through activities such as gardening, forestry, outdoor recreation and collaborative problem-solving.
