Cornerstone Bank promotes Kara Wiersma to vice president of Talent and Organizational Development

Cornerstone Bank has announced the promotion of Kara Wiersma to vice president of Talent and Organizational Development. In her new role, Wiersma will lead the bank’s enterprise-wide talent development strategy, supporting continued growth while strengthening employee engagement and organizational culture.

Wiersma joined Cornerstone Bank two years ago as vice president, Learning and Development Business Partner. Since then, she has played a key role in enhancing learning programs and aligning talent initiatives with business objectives.

In her new role, Wiersma is responsible for designing and leading comprehensive programs that support employees across every stage of their careers. Her work includes onboarding, leadership development and executive coaching, as well as advancing initiatives tied to merger integration and sales culture transformation. Reporting to the chief human resources officer, she partners across the organization to ensure teams are prepared to meet both current demands and future opportunities.

Wiersma brings 25 years of experience in banking, including more than a decade focused on talent development. She is a Certified Professional in Talent Development and was recognized as a Worcester Business Journal Forty Under 40 honoree in 2019. She holds a Bachelor of Science in management from Boston University.
