Cornerstone Bank supports Dismas House with $3,000 donation for winter heating assistance

Cornerstone Bank has donated $3,000 to Dismas House of Massachusetts, Inc., to help provide winter heating support across the nonprofit’s four residential programs for former inmates reentering society. The funds will help cover utility costs during the colder months, ensuring that residents have a safe, warm environment as they work toward rebuilding their lives.

Dismas House offers transitional housing, support services and a pathway back to the community for individuals most in need of recovery, decent work and housing. With locations across Worcester County, the organization provides not only shelter, but also critical programs that foster stability and hope.

“Dismas House plays a vital role in providing dignity and opportunity for people in need across our community,” said Todd Tallman, CEO of Cornerstone Bank. “We’re proud to continue our support for their mission, particularly during the winter months when reliable heat is essential.”

This most recent gift builds on Cornerstone Bank’s ongoing partnership with Dismas House, which included a $2,500 donation in 2024 to support youth hunger initiatives and a $4,000 donation in 2023 for the same cause.

Cornerstone Bank is committed to strengthening local communities through charitable giving and volunteerism. Its support of Dismas House underscores the bank’s dedication to addressing urgent community needs and improving the lives of neighbors across Central Massachusetts.

Cornerstone Bank helps tackle local hunger with $3,000 donation to Community Harvest Project

Cornerstone Bank has continued its commitment to tackle local hunger with a $3,000 donation to Community Harvest Project, a nonprofit farm that engages volunteers to grow fresh fruits and vegetables for hunger relief across Central and Eastern Massachusetts. The donation builds on the bank’s $3,000 gift in 2024 and $2,000 gift in 2023, and is part of a broader relationship that includes regular volunteer efforts by Cornerstone Bank employees at Community Harvest Project’s farms.

“Cornerstone Bank is proud to partner with Community Harvest Project,” said Todd Tallman, CEO of Cornerstone Bank. “Food insecurity continues to impact thousands of our neighbors, and CHP’s work ensures that families have access not only to food, but to fresh, healthy produce. We’re honored to support their mission both financially and through the volunteer efforts of our team.”

Community Harvest Project is the largest community farm in Central Massachusetts, with locations in Grafton and Harvard. In 2024 alone, the organization hosted more than 6,300 volunteers who grew and donated 188,501 pounds of fruits and vegetables to 26 partner agencies serving more than 60,800 food-insecure individuals. With food insecurity rates in Worcester County still more than double pre-pandemic levels, CHP remains a vital source of fresh, healthy produce for families who might otherwise go without.

Cornerstone Bank employees have volunteered more than 300 hours at CHP farms since 2022, joining community members in planting, harvesting and packaging produce that directly benefits local families.

Cornerstone Bank commits $30,000 to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass & Metrowest

Cornerstone Bank has pledged $30,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Central Mass & Metrowest as sponsor of the organization’s two signature 2026 events: the Big Celebration on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Top of the Tower in Worcester, and the 10th annual Golf Fore Kids Tournament on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Charter Oak Country Club. Registration is now open for both events, with 2025 pricing available through September 30, 2025.

This latest gift reflects Cornerstone’s long history of generosity to BBBS, with contributions of $30,000 in 2025, $15,000 in 2024, and $15,000 in 2023. Last year alone, Cornerstone provided $25,000 for the Big Celebration and $5,000 for Golf Fore Kids, strengthening programs that create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships for local youth.

“We know that mentoring can change lives by giving young people the encouragement and guidance they need to thrive,” said Todd Tallman, CEO of Cornerstone Bank. “It’s an honor to continue supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters, whose mission aligns with our values of community and opportunity.”

BBBS of Central Mass & Metrowest continues to expand its reach, serving 650 youth in fiscal year 2025, a 15 percent increase from the prior year, and aiming for a significant increase in the year ahead. The agency has twice earned the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Growth Award and was named 2025 Nonprofit of the Year by the Worcester Business Journal.

In collaboration with the NFL’s Inspire Change initiative, BBBS is also launching The Big Draft, a national volunteer recruitment campaign to encourage more adults to become mentors, known as “Bigs.” Just as the NFL drafts its next class of players, BBBS will draft its next class of Bigs to match more children on the waiting list with supportive role models.
