Cornerstone Bank’s Charitable Donations Committee is proud to announce its recent donation of $1,500 to the Kennedy-Donovan Center (KDC). This donation will help the Center implement the final phase of the sensory inclusive playground for their South Central Early Intervention Program located in Southbridge, MA. This playground will allow children of all abilities to play together as one.
The act of play is a crucial component in the successful growth of the brain, body, and mind. The sensory inclusive playground will help children improve their balance, provide external exposure to real life circumstances with and without their peers, manage external distractions, assimilate to unfamiliar spaces, and provide the ability to adapt outside of their own home and in their own community.
The KDC is a non-profit human service agency serving families in eastern and central Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. The KDC provides a wide range of programs, including in-home services to support children, adolescents and adults with developmental delays, disabilities or family challenges.
“Interaction and activity play an important role in children’s development,” stated Cornerstone Bank Chairman & CEO K. Michael Robbins. “We are pleased to support the South Central Early Intervention Program with the final phase of their sensory inclusive playground.”
